| Rome,Italy. Mother’s Help/Companion for an elderly lady aged 94 and assist with her care. Single adult household. The family speak Italian, English and Spanish. They live in a large, centrally located apartment in Rome, close to all services and with good transport links. The mother is still able to do some things on her own, but she must be constantly supervised in her daily routine (medications, meals, physical activity, etc).
Other help kept: Cleaning staff for 10 hours per week for the deep clean.
Use of internet is given in your bedroom.
To start asap for minimum 6 months.
Hrs: Maximum 10 hours per day.
Duties: Assisting the lady with everyday activities such as washing, grooming, dressing and going to the bathroom; administering prescribed medications on time; meal preparation with nutritious fresh food with a varied menu and overseeing meals (meals for the lady must always be without salt; you can share the same food and add condiments separately or buy your own food{at family's expense}). Providing companionship in the morning – talking to her, listening to her, keeping her mentally stimulated. Encouraging some physical activity (mainly walking in the house or on the terrace, depending on the weather). Making sure she drinks 1.5–2 litres of water during the morning/early afternoon. Assistance in going to the bathroom and making sure the lady cleans herself well and help clean up any accidents that may occur. This is rare but could sometimes happen. You will not be asked however to give her, her routine shower/bath as this will be done by others. Performing light housekeeping (laundry, tidying the living spaces) and occasionally accompanying her to medical appointments or short outings.
Requirements: Patient, reliable and attentive / Someone happy to provide companionship to an elderly person
Accommodation: Own private bedroom with balcony and exclusive use of one bathroom with shower.
Hours: Approx. 10 hours per day spread over the day to follow the lady’s routine with flexibility and time off if you want to attend language courses, study etc.
Time off: 1½ days off per week including evenings.
Salary: €1515 per month (approx £305.00 p/w, net at the current rate of exchange).
Family’s background & interests: The lady previously worked as a headmistress in a primary school and later as an assistant professor in educational science. She used to read a lot and now mostly enjoys Catholic/religious books. Because of her age, she generally prefers to stay at home in Rome; when she is well, short outings to the countryside just outside Rome may be organised.
The lady's daughter works full-time but is also involved in the lady's care and will be supporting you

Please note extra terms of the contract:
Full salary will be paid weekly for the first 2 months
Top up of salary for the whole contract period outside Italian contract will be paid weekly either in cash or by bank transfer
2 hours daily break
On Tuesdays 1 of the break periods will be from 3:30–4:30pm Any change to this slot would only occur by prior agreement and only where Rita’s student schedule permits.
The Italian contract will supplement Totalnannies terms and not replace them
No end of contract bonus will be paid as the Christmas bonus substitutes this
No night shifts unless there is an emergency
A new mattress will be provided if the one present on arrival is not satisfactory
Option of changing bed to a larger bed bu this might involve changing rooms
Main housework not required, only daily household tasking during working hours |
